“Brave Dave’s Big Fat Freight Hop” is 2 hours 20 minutes in total. I know that’s quite a long time (which is why I split it into 4 parts) but according to YouTube comments a good number of people have ended up watching the entire thing all in one go, even when they weren’t planning on doing so at the start. It’s cool to know that the adventure captures people’s interest like that.
Brave Dave’s Big Fat Freight Hop – Part 1
I arrive in Montreal, collect essential kit from a guy who very kindly offered to help me out, and head straight to the rails. It’s then a case of reminding myself how to catch a freight train because it’s been 3 years since I last did it (and I wasn’t very good at it back then either). I then find myself in Toronto where things don’t go particularly smoothly.
Brave Dave’s Big Fat Freight Hop – Part 2
Toronto proves to be a bit of a nightmare and the next couple of days see me being recognised in a bush, jumping off a speeding train and getting helped out big time by an online fan before I work out how to head North West. I then enjoy the longest single freight ride of my life, taking me all the way to Winnipeg.
Brave Dave’s Big Fat Freight Hop – Part 3
After a long and frustrating catch-out of Winnipeg I continue West, not knowing that I will soon be finding myself in a world of trouble as I get spotted and hunted in a yard in the middle of nowhere. Curious cows and severe dehydration also add to my experiences.
Brave Dave’s Big Fat Freight Hop – Part 4
I drop in on an old friend at Calgary and then it’s off to the Rockies for some seriously scenic riding. Now THIS is what I signed up for!
And there you have it! My little adventure across Canada, in under 2 and a half hours.
Did you enjoy it? I hope so! Let me know on YouTube or on Facebook. If you write a comment on any of the videos’ YouTube pages then I’ll read and reply to it as soon as I get the notification.
